1959 Farmall 400

I have recently acquired a 59 400 that rolled down a steep hill backwards and broke both axle housings, both bull gears and the right and left bull pinion shaft bearing cages.
I purchased a 47 Farmall M my question is will the parts from the M fit the 400?

Hi Fred,

A 1959 400 would be unique indeed as they were only made in 1955 and 1956. Whoever aged the tractor probably compared the serial number against the list for the 460 or 560 to get 1959.

The axle housings might fit, but I think the bull pinion cages are different because the 400 has disk brakes and the M has band brakes. It would be interesting if you could retrofit the band brakes to the 400. Then you'd have a truly unique tractor.

Fred, where are you at? I have a 450 with a junk moter and junk tires no tin. Make an offer. Quincy IL

You have lots of work to do,the axles will work, bull gears should work, but pinion housings will not work, unless you use pinion shafts and brake parts from M tractor. Good luck Scott
