More '48 H questions

Got the engine back together, running on all four now. Now have a few more questions. Can someone post a picture of an alternator bracket used to mount a delco 10si on an h. Also I need to know if I can use a 4 position light switch with an alternator. What can you recommend to get a rusty exhaust pipe out of the manifold? I have been hitting it with pb blaster everytime I park it in hope of it drawing it into the threads. The hand crank was siezed up and the pin/stud the the handle locks onto is sheared off on both sides. How can I drive it out and us it replaceable?

Good luck getting that pipe out, it may not as they get really stuck. Spray PB on the cranking shaft and take a pin punch or bolt and pound the pin out.

There are pictures in the archives of Hs with the original bracket turned upside down, and a length of all thread used with a pipe spacer to anchor the pivot.
The light sw is no problem. just remove the wire that went to the F terminal on the gen and there you are. Off Off dim bright going clockwise from full left.
Two big pipe wrenches on opposite sides with cheaters as needed, heat and force. JimN
Drill out the pin until nearrly gon, then drive it out with a pin punch of the same size.
Put a new pin in the hole made from a grade 8 bolt, cut to the correct length.

Best way is to first go purchase a new 2 inch pipe, 12 inches long and have it threaded.
Then use a sawsall and cut off the old pipe 1/4 inch above the manifold. Use a magnet to get the filings out. Stuff a shop towel way down in there. Now use the sawsall vertically and cut just barely through the pipe. Tap it out. Takes about 10 minutes.
Now is the time to rethread the manifold, 2"NPT. Remove the towel, apply the never seize and install new pipe. Good to go for another 50 years.

Not my tractor, just some pictures I have.

If the pipe is worn thin enough you should be able to collapse it with a hammer and a big dull chisel. Drive the pipe in towards the center right at the top of the manifold, using just enough force with the hammer to do the job. After you do this in one or two spots the pipe will be peeling away from the threads. Fish it out and replace with a new pipe.
