Super C, clutch falling apart!

My Super C, though, restored is primarily a worker. It started to become a little hard to shift and their was a little more free play than called for. I was able to readjust the clutch via the external linkage. Everything seemed normal. I left to plow snow no apparent problems. However, when I returned, there was no resistance when I pushed on the pedal and there was loud chattering or grinding noise as if trying to engage without pushing in the clutch. I had to shut down before I could stop the tractor. When looking through the hand access hole underneath. The Release Yoke, was not connected to anything and the 3 Release Arm's, were laying just inside the access hole. Haven't pulled it apart to see what's going on yet. Has anybody ever had this happen or heard of it happening before?

Yes not common, but it pretty much totals the clutch. THe pins wear out that the release levers use for a fulcrum, or the levers themselves wear thin and break apart. The T/O bearing then pushes through and things get mixed rather badly. I hope your throwout carrier, and release fork are OK. THe shaft is probably OK and the flywheel is probably OK. Good luck, JimN
