1086 hyd couplers

I have purchased a IH 1086. The hyd. couplers are different than my 966. My 966 has leavers to release the hoses under pressure. The 1086 has none. I can push the hoses in and have to pull like heck to get them out. Is there a easy way to uncouple the hoses from the tractor with out have to pull so hard?

Does the 1086 have the blocks like the 966 where the hoses plug in or were they replaced with generic female ends?
If they were replaced you can get a set of junkyard blocks and it wouldn't take much to make a set of brackets and replace them.
If the block is there and the levers are busted off, check with CIH, but you may be better off getting the complete assembly from the junkyard, then you can pull the innards out of them, replace a couple o-rings, and put them in the current blocks, and be good to go. Remove a snap-ring and they pull right out.
It sounds to me like the IH outlets were replaced.

Converted a lot of 86 and 66 series tractors to iso type couplers, used same housing (block) but of course if you can insert the same IH end into the 86 and you do the 66 it would not be iso type. Just thought I would throw that in.

if you in fact have the IH style ISO conversion, they can pull kinda hard, especially when your hands and/or the hoses are slippery--my dad hated that father's day present when i installed the kit. Many places, including the dealer, offer handles for hydraulic hoses. they are basically a 6 inch long piece of pipe with a molded plastic covering that gives you a substantial piece to pull on instead of a slippery hose.
