966 Steering

The steering 'motor', the steering wheel attaches to it, is leaking. It seems to leak at a joint between the body halves of the pump. To fix this, is there a kit, a couple orings, or will I need to replace the pump? Thanks, Wayne

There's a rubber sleeve in there. A CIH dealer will have them or be able to get them. CAREFUL when you take it apart (better have it bottoms-up in a vise).

Thanks Bob, Is the pump complicated enough inside that maybe I should have the dealer rebuild it? It won't be coming off the tractor until it warms up around here. Thanks, Wayne

There are two different lengths of those rubber sleeves[seals]. Best to take old one with you when you go after the parts. Been there, done that.

Rebuilt one on a 1066 last summer. Not that big of a deal if you punch mark it before taking it a part. the seals are in a sleeve they usually start leaking after this sleeve has swelled, out of round. You replace it and the seals and you'll be on your way.
