822D about 5 items down in Engine Parts

Judging from the 22-36 sleeve packings I ordered from them, they're putting these together [thus a seam] rather than having the seals molded continuous; however, they didn't note any problems, so I'm sure these will work just fine.

Thank you so much. I ordered everything on this list except engine parts since I had taken the motor to a guy who supposedly knew what he was doing. I at least didn't pretend to know about the motor. Thanks for teaching me what this part is called!

My pleasure; I post enough questions, it's nice to find some I can be on the answering side.

Did you get that other one running; or is this it?

Not sure if your mechanic has half a clue or not, but I wouldn't judge him solely on overlooking the sleeve packing rings. Not something you'd reuse, but unless he does these frequently or has the books [even then easy to overlook] it is easy to forget about some of the gaskets and seals until you start putting it back together. Several items I never expected to be shot on that 22-36, we wound up ordering well after the top end gasket kit [no bottom kit for that; even using several vendors I'll need to be cutting a few gaskets, it sounds like they're not quite as popular of a project tractor as the 10-20].

I hadn't played much with these in about 10years, and it amazes me how I can forgot which parts can be stubborn - until I'm about ready to say some inappropriate words - then sometimes recall a trick or just persistance.

On the other hand; if he doesn't remember such things until AFTER it is put together.....

Good luck!

This isn't the one I was trying to start. This motor was in bad shape. It isn't that he forgot the seals, he has had the motor for 6 months and we are just not moving. After 3 months of him trying to get parts, I got on it and between Darrel Alderson and Fordson, I had the parts in less than 2 weeks. This motor has new pistons, rings, valves, gaskets - I guess everything but the crank and block.

The other motor that I was trying to start ALMOST fired. wasn't getting fuel through the manifold that was all cracked up. It was trying to fire but just wouldn't go. A good enough test though. I have new gaskets and rings for that motor. I am thinking about hauling it 7 hours up to Darrell and have him go through it. I think it is time for a shop with experience with these tractors.

Again, thanks for the help!
Dave
