I have come across some oil filters I bought for a truck I no longer have, and in all honesty forgot that I ordered them. They are now about 3 - 4 years old, since I ordered them. I know someone who can use these, do you think they are still good?

if they arnt contaminated by chemicals or had dust get inside them, or chewed on by mice they will remain good indefenatly

No issue unless they have ben in high heat or direct sun, and deteriorated. If they are canister type, they should be fine. if cartridge, use a pencil to see if the paper seems firm and if so use them with confidence. I have a bag of filters from 1950 that are good. Jeep external cartridge bypass system. JimN

You have to really take a close look at the filters and even then they may not be any good, especially if they have been stored out in a shop or vechicle someplace. Paper eating insects like silver fish, roaches, etc love these things. Your friend may not be too happy when he replaced the main bearings because the oil passages were filled with oil filter element paper. Lot depends on where you live too.
