20.8-38's on a 1256

My brother wants to put some 20.8-38's on his 1256. He has 18.4's on there now. Any pros and cons on doing it? How much will it raise the drawbar on the tractor? He wants me to start looking for some rims for it but I want to make sure it will be worth his while to do it.

we have 20.8 radials with tubes on ours (did not change the rims however). They are also full of fluid. if you have the short axles, the duals sidewalls will rub the main tire's sidewall. There really isn't any room to set the wheels in further due to fender clearance and the rim ring we have the hubs set on--might not be room for both the dual adapter and hub set to outer ring.
so far the only issues we have are the dual fitment. it raised the tractor a couple inches, but the old tires were co-op bias 18.4s that were nearly bald. we only use the tractor about 20-50 hours a year.

He has bias on there now too. What is the price difference between the two? He was thinking radials with the 20.8's. What about a price on different rims?

you'll have to check with a tire and wheel dealer in your area. we put our radials on in 1998 or so, so the price then is a moot point today!
