C vs. B engine

Whoops, I read it A vs B. C has hyd pump, hole can be covered if installed on B. C has higher HP (18.5 vs 17.3 drawbar), mainly due to higher RPM (1650 vs 1400), and higher compression. Probably some other minor differences.

Both are 113 cu in. The B does not have the place for the hy pump. They are interchangeable. But if you want the hy pump you need the C block. A few Bs left the Louisville plant with the block made for the C.They just put a plate over the hole. What is the purpose of your question. Are you needing to replace on or the other. They did speed up the engine for the C then went to the Super C with larger bore that can be done with the B block.

I am considering the purchase of a C and I am certain the engine will need extensive repair as it has been sitting with the exhaust open for years. My main concern was engine size.

Yes it will need new pistons and sleeces. Would be a good idea to put a set of hi-domes and overbore to 3 1/8 will give a good 5 more hp.
