Best plow for a 450

I have a Farmall 450 with a fast hitch. What size and model of plow should I look for? Just bought the tractor and would like to get a plow to attend some local plow days. Thanks for your time and help.

When I was in the service, I had a part time job on a farm/ranch that had a gas 450. They used a Fast Hitch 3x16" for their corn ground for the silo and plowed wheat stubble with a 5x14" pull type plow. I would go for a 3x16". I probably plowed 50 acres with it and a couple hundred with the pull plow that spring and summer of '64.

I'd save the money and buy an implement you might actually need and use on your own place. A mower, a sprayer? A disc?

Used one with a fast hitch model 311 plow and weights on front of tractor. In the type ground in this region thats all the 450 wanted in places. Always thought a pull plow like a # 60 (not sure on the #) was good. Thats just my limited opinion though.

When i bought my old 450D many years ago the first plow was a 311 in 14 inch . That was the first year my buddy had a 450 D and he pulled 4x14 semi mounts , we would plow together and you would think that i should have benn able to flat run over him pulling one less bottom in the same field . Not the case as we were both either in second or third . That fall i found a set of 4x14 540 semi mounts and sold the 311's that fall i found that the 540's pulled just like the 311's same gear. Ya got more done with 4 then 3 . Now if all your going to do is go play then the 311 would be easier on the loading and unloading and a lot shorter .
