i"m working on a 400 that the hyd. pressure pulsates when you push the levers forward but has a solid 850 psi when i pull them back. the power steering also pulsates except when you hold the levers back, than it seems to work ok. can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

should have around 1200 psi, the priority valve is causing your steering problem, put an aftermarket one on and be done with the original as the spool and bore are wore out, good luck

would the priority valve cause the pulseing through the spool valve too? where do you get an aftermarket priority valve?

Sure would cause the problem. Idea of the priority flow divider is to send the priority to the PS, but if it's oscillating, it would affect both. I have seen them at farm supply stores that handle hydraulic components. The company I retired from made a good one years ago, but that's a thing of the past for them.
