so early you all told me that we all was thought it was a bork reverse gear if it is a revers gear woudl the parks till be working because the park is good suposely any wya my question is can you inspect the gears with removing the side long plate behind the fuel tank can that determine the problem if so does the torque haft to coem out to ge that shaft out thanks so much for any and all replyes

Yes you can inspect the reverse/park gear though that cover. With a pry bar you can check the pinion bearing by prying on shaft to see if it moves in and out, and up and down. The torque is in the speed trans housing and the reverse gear is on the pinion shaft in the diff housing which would be split from the speed housing to do such repairs, so don't worry about the torque.

The park pawl engages the reverse driven gear to hold the tractor when stopped. You will need to remove the HiLo shifter cover to replace the park pawl.
If the Reverse driven gear has teeth missing you probably will find some of them in the bottom of the case where the rear hyd pump is located, which is just in front of the left rear axle. If that is the case you will need to split the trct behind the speed trans. Pull the rockshaft cover, axle hsgs, brakes, ring gear and then the pinion shaft. The reverse driven gear is located on the pinion shaft. Some might say just a walk in the park, but have plenty of room because there will be parts everywhere.

The park lock will still work with some teeth broken off the reverse driven gear. The park lock pawl swings down and in to engage two teeth on the gear. The two teeth used are not next to each other on the gear so it would be unusual for the pawl to come down where was two broken teeth. If you get a clicking noise in reverse, and only in reverse, that gear is going to be the problem.

Just curious, could you continue to run a tractor with the broken cogs on the reverse gear with no other consequences? My 1466 seems to have a bit of a noise in reverse, not real definate, you have to really listen to hear it, it is a faint tick as you back up. It has a lot of hours, guessing around 13,000, but it had some bearings put in a few years back.

If it's a faint tick and only in reverse, you may only have just one tooth gone, and as long as you don't use it hard in reverse like loader work or dropping it in park while still moving you should be fine. I dout that you would want to stick a lot of money into that old of a tractor with that many hours if you don't have to. Parts to fix shouldn't be very high but timewise for the repair is where it adds up.
