how to fix a varible speed throttle lever

I am slowly getting to all the little things wrong with the 656G and my throttle lever which goes from high to medium almost immediately and then to low after a few bumps in the field is getting to be like a nagging wife. It is either a stiff arm or a bungee cord to keep it operating at a constant speed. All of my books show nothing in this area - I see a tension pin through the lever base and I am guessing that the lever sits on a gear. Anyone ever make this repair? The throttle lever does have a little play front to back as well as the ease to float back down to low speed.

caseih.com search for parts and put in your tractor. the throttle linkage likely has a spring that is rusted thin or broken. Replacement will fix it, A friction disk can be made from belting or shoe leather to replace a worn disk. Good luck. JimN

Remove both of the top cowl fiberglass pieces to gain acess.

That throttle friction clutch lives up above the power steering manual motor.
