Ive got a 51 W-6,
Which light goes on the back bracket?
Is it the seal beam like ive seen original,
or Ive seen the teardrop style that alot of guy's have?
I think their the seal beam one with the lip on the rim of light,
What do i do about front light holes that dont have any thing in back of the hole's?
Could it have been a different shroud that was replaced for the original yrs ago?
It look's strange that theres nothing in back of the bolt hole's,
Ive seen this on this thing, but never thought anything about it,
How do you mount a tube with umbrella on this tractor?
Or,,, Is it simpler to put a collapsing 3 tier top on it,
i dont wanna drill holes in the fender's, so i think ill have to go with the umbrella,

The sealed beam lights were not introduced until late '53 on the super series, so your W6, being a '51, would still use the tear drop shaped lights, front and rear.

Hi rusty,
Kirk here,
right on , I can use the teardrop onews and itll look nice,
what about those holes in the side of the grille, theres nothing behind them,
or thier blocked off,
lookd wierd,ch ok,
what do I do about an umbrella to make shade,
is there a thing to bolt on and have the umbrella on the right side I think,
stay on touch ok,
Kirk

I've actually not been around that many of the W series tractors, but I'm not sure if the original headlights mounted to the grill. I'm thinking there is a special bracket that mounted down low on the frame, and the headlights installed on those brackets. The I4 I'm working on has those brackets.

Since an umbrella was pretty much always an aftermarket thing, there was probably a muti-tude of mounting arrangements, depending on who built the umbrella.

Interesting to know when the sealed beam lights were first available. I grew up with my dad having a '40 H that had sealed lights. I knew that he got it in the early '50s and that it originally did not have any electrical system on it. He got it from a dealer who had done an overhaul, paint job, and installed the lights and starter. The magneto was replaced in the early '60s when it had another overhaul and firecrater pistons installed.

My I4 has those cast brackets as well, but there are holes in my grill for a bracket of some sort to mount lights, and I have seen a couple of pictures with the lights there. I also have a grill, thats junk, that came off of an OS4 that has 3 holes on each side where this bracket went.

i have a wd6 with the lower cast iron bracket--and it still has the three holes in the tin work but nothing behind that-- i have only one bracket because the right one had to be removed to do any belt work-- so i'am looking for one of those brackets -- some-one for-got to put it back on -- anybody have an extra one ? i could sure use one.
