Sickle bar mower on Farmall 130?

I bought a Farmall 130 a few years ago and it came with a sickle bar mower that obviously goes under the belly. It was not attached and I have never attempted to attach it. Did the 130 come with a belly mounted sickle bar mower or is this maybe one from a cub that the former owner was hoping to attach? I couldn't ask the former owner since he was dead. I bought the tractor at his estate sale.

I have seen lots of cubs with this type of mower, but I have never seen one under a 130. Even if it was designed for a cub, would it fit the 130?

Phil: Belly mount for 130 would be model no. A-22 or A-23. The A-22 is light pitman drive mower 5 or 6 ft. cut. The A-23 is a balanced head mower with 7' cutter bar, really to heavy for a 130.

Rear mount mower would be model A-16. You'll notice these models all start with A-, basically designed in the days of A or SA yet fit every offset tracror to the last 140.

Your 130 actually didn't "come with" anything but the tractor itself. As they've said, a sickle bar mower was an optional implement, and there are several that fit the 130.

Is there a wooden stick, or the remnants of a wooden stick, with the mower? If so it is a model 22 mower.

The actual cutterbar assembly is identical between the Cub version and the A version. I have one of each, and laid them side-by-side to compare. The difference is in the drive mechanism.

The Cub drive unit is shorter, and has a large 3-spoke pulley at the rear. The A/100/130 drive unit is longer and has a solid 4-5" diameter pulley at the rear.

I checked out my sickle bar mower and it definitely has the remnant of the pitman arm. The pulley at the rear (the driven pulley) is solid and has an o.d. of 5 inches so it must not be for a cub. I don't have the driver pulley that fits on the pto shaft. There are numbers "451399RI" on the round piece that drives the pitman arm. A litte further around this piece with the numbers is what I think is the IH symbol and then the letters LI. It appears as if the pitman arm drove a ball shaped piece that is cast into the mower. I would like to see a picture of one before I attempt to hook it up. I have looked for the pitman arm without success. Tractor Supply has a "universal" one but I have my doubts about how it would work. I would appreciate any further help or advice.

Phil: Save yourself the effort, if that is a Cub 22 mower it will not work on your 130. The pitman flywheel is threaded on and the Cub PTO turns opposite direction to your 130.

Phil,
I too, have a 130 with the belly mount sickle mower. My pitman is in excellent shape and I wouldn't care to make a drawing for you. Easily fabricated.

Binder Books has an operator's manual that covers all the #22 mowers. There are enough illistrations to easily tell all 3 mowers apart, along with all the adjustment and operation instructions that you will need.
1007452 Cub 22, L-22, No. 22, Mid Mount Mowers 22 is used on Farmall Super A, Super A-1, 100, 130, 140 & Int'l 130, 140. Cub-22 is used on Farmall Cub & Int'l Cub, L-22 is used on Int'l Cub & Lo-Boy Tractors; Rev. 1965, 22 pgs. $14.95
Unless you have a very late mower, the pitman is 451392R1. The late one is 57197C1. They both show available from CaseIH on Messick's site. The early one is about $20, the late about $34. The late one seems kind of pricey, but I still wouldn't make one myself for that.

My dad has a 1950 cub with a sickel bar on it. It has a wooden pittman bar on it. It has to be rebuilt and he needs the measurement from the center of the bearing to the center of the hook up point so he can build another one. he has rebuilt it numuerous times through and it is a little bit out of time now. Can you help me out on this measurement...
