140 3 pt hitch conversion ?

What's involved in converting a 140 to standard 3 point hitch? Generally speaking what's the cost involved? Must the conversion be removed to use the mounted cultivators either front or rear? Same questions for a Super A. Thanks very much for your time.

the ones i have used on a super a bolted on to the stud bolts used for mounting rear cultivators the leveling screws mounted in the holes for rear culti.lift rods the top link bracket clamps to the rock shaft these can't be used with rear culti. like the one point hitch can don,t know about cost

Stephen: Depends a lot on how the 140 is currently equipped. 3 point hitch conversions are very easy to build if tractor is equipped with fast hitch. I have 3 point hitches on my 130 and 140 fast hitch tractors and I can switch from 1 point fast hitch to 3 point hitch, or vice versa in less than 5 min. and without the use of wrenches. I can also switch to my rear cultivators almost as fast.

If the tractor has a standard U type drawbar, 3 point hitch will be more expensive to build and like the drawbar will have to be removed to use the cultivator. A very cumbersome job at best.

I build hitch kits for these tractors, and I can build a kit that speeds up the change over on the U drawbar tractors. It makes it so one can change from drawbar, to cultivator to 3 point by removing nothing more than hair pins. Quick to change and convenient to use, but it will cost close to $1,200. One can built much the same for a fast hitch 140 for roughly $500. I'm not talking about what has been on the market for years, but rather hitches that will lift 600 to 1,000 lbs.

Thanks guys. I really could use another one row tractor, but I need to be able to lay plastic mulch & use my Holland one row setter on my "new" one row tractor. I"ll be darned sure any 140/Super A has the 1 point hitch. Hugh, if I find one, You"ll be getting a message. Thanks again, Stephen

Can you help us with switching over from a 2 point hitch to a 3 point hitch? We have an International Harvester Farmall Super C. I think it's a 1949. If you can, please email me. Thanks

Alina: Super C with 2 point fast hitch is the easy one. There are kits on the market, in the $200-300. range. No use trying to compete with that one on fabrication.

Ocasionally you see them in YT photo adds, classifieds or watch e bay. I expect the new ones are coming from either Worksaver or Saginaw Tractor.
