460 question

I don"t think there is much difference in the compression of the head, but I read somewhere that the LP head has "stellite" seats. I have a 460 Utility that I converted to gas using the LP manifolds that are seperated and the throat above the carb almost gets frost on it. I pull it in 5500# farmstock and it bounces off the governor to about 250' or more. It has never choked down even when I pulled in 6000# weighing 5200#. good luck, doorman.

Added compression for the lp comes from different pistons. The 460/560 motors aren"t like the 350/450 motors, which get compression from smaller combustion chambers in head. You might look into using lp pistons with a gas head???
