I have a 1965 140 that I want to convert to a 12 volt. It has a 6 volt generator ~ can it be converted to a 12 volt 1 wire alternator? If so, how?

dootsie: What is the serial number of your 140? If it is truly a 65 model,it will be 12 volt from the factory. 140 changed to 12 volt at serial number 26801, which happened in mid 1964.

I've never had a one wire alternator on one of these older Farmalls, always went with 3 wire. From my part in discussion here over the past ten years, and I read a lot more than I type. I would have to say one wire alternators on these 30+ year old tractors, don't eliminate problems, just changes them. I have 3 tractors on 3 wire systems, I'm satisfied it works without problems.
