Condensation in M base

Went to look at a M today. Has been parked in a metal pole barn with a drit floor for about 5-6 years. I cracked the oil drain loose to look for antifreeze(green in radiator) found clear water and after grabbing a bucket there was about a gallon of water in the base!! Owner assures me he drove it into the barn and no one has been near it. Could there be that much condensation?? Oil black as the ace of spades not creamy.

Are you saying in the M base. Are you saying the engine oil drain plug in the engine oil pan you got water out. If this is true I don't think that much water would come from condensation. Head or sleeve or some where else.

If the water was clear and the radiator has antifreeze in it, then, yes, I can see that much condensation forming over 5-6 years. With that much water sitting for that long, I would take off the oil pan, check it for pinholes caused by the water sitting in it. Also take off the oil pump and take it apart and make sure everything is ok inside of it. With the oil pump immersed in water that long, it is likely to have been damaged by corrosion.

Did you check the transmission for water also? If there was water in there, also, check the amount. Should be maybe twice as much--considering the size of the trans against the crankcase.

Setting inside there isnt any way there would be condensation. Where does all the air get thru the tranny setting under a roof does it have a fan moving the air thru. Ive got As and Bs that ive had for many yrs and they just dont get water setting in a shed. The water got there seting outside and when parked for that many yrs did seperate.
