locked up Super C water pump.

I was running the super c last weekend when I all of a sudden noticed a bunch of black smoke coming from the front end of the tractor. I shut it down right away and looked at the front end and didnt notice anything unusual. I started it again and it had black smoke again. I got off and looked and shur enough the belt was just burning on the water pump pulley. Water pump wasnt turning. Took about an hour to tear into it and finally got the water pump off. When I looked at it, the probeler was wedged and kind of bent to one side. I thinking the bearing went out. Is this a huge thing. Should i rebuild the old or buy new. Thanks for the help. Andy

Parts are available for ebuilding , but it's definitely a project for the experienced. In the absence of the tools and experience required for the job, the replacement will serve well.

I replaced one on my 1950 Farmall C with a new one for $80.00. For some reason the rebuilt was more expensive than the new one.
