1945 International Cub

I'm getting ready to inherit a 1945 International Cub tractor with a
5 foot wood deck. It has a belly hitch. What does that mean for
other attachments? What do I need to be aware of in general
operation for this tractor? I plan to mow with it and pull my wood
splitter.

first year for cub was 1947, horsepower is 9 hp. There are a lot of implements available, but it takes a little time to change since they all bolt on. A fast hitch setup is available, but pretty pricey. You might try the website www.farmallcub.com

The newer cubs the 154 and 185s [lowboys] were in the 14 to 18 hp range.

They all use the same C-60 engine, the bore and stroke are all the same. The only differance that we have found part # wise and threw talking to others is the pistons are differnt.

It turns out the piston pin location is off set raising the compression abit. Along with that the governor speed is 200 rpm higher.

I have cut both heads on my cubs to increase the compression.
The 1955 is cut .060 and the 1954 is cut .100 with great results. There is a ton of material that can be removed so heating and fuel issues are "not" a problem.

Does it help "YES" the torque is the big increase , i'm able to plow heavy snow in 3rd gear now.

So if it's a little weak on power there are things that can be done to help with that problem.

We have even kicked around the idea of putting a small turbo system on one of them.

Thank you both for such speedy responses. The website had some books listed that seem helpful. I'm sure I will have more questions when I actually receive it.
