I have a 53' super c. Do I have to use IH bolts or can I just get them at a automotive store/hardware.bolt store. many are different grades, and I just thought i could get themlocally soi wont have to order and wait.??? Please advise???? Would it hurt the authenticity if i didnt use ih bolts, etc....Most of thewheel to rim bolts have rusted and destroyed threads.

There are many discussions on this board about authenticity, "dot" bolts, etc.

Here is my take. What do you want to do? If this is going to be a work tractor, then you can use regular bolts as appropriate (ie. grade 3, 5, 8) and they will work just fine, and save you money.

However, if you wish to restore to original "from the factory" condition, then you will need to use the "dot" bolts, and many other small details.

Either way is right.......just depends upon what you want the end result to be. If you want an high-end, totally correct, "from the factory" example, or a nice working refurb.

Your choice. One costs a lot more money, and the other one doesn't cost as much. both work. So, go into the bathroom, look in the mirror, and ask youself what you want to do.

My thoughts are for any external fastener (in other words not internal to the engine) I'd simply get a Grade 5 zinc-plated bolt and call it a good day.

I suppose there could be high-confidence bolts in the transmission too.
