Farmall 400 12V Conversion

This wiring diagram look correct for a 12V conversion on a 400? Will be using a new interally regulated GM alternator and GM ceramic resistor along with all new wiring and ignition components. Thanks!

In that BLUE line you have which runs FROM the Ignition Switch TO the No. 1 terminal on the alternator, you "may" have to add say a 10 ohm resistor to prevent the alternator from backfeeding the coil which could make her continue to run even with the Ignition OFF HOWEVER with that 1.5 or so ohm ballast resistor in series with before and ahead of the coil, she may not backfeed anyway and any other resistors may NOT be required. Id sure try it as drawn and only add more resistance in the blue line if required cuz she keeps running even when shut off, which I doubt. I recommend a current limiting resistor over a diode there which many use.

PS when I upgrade to an alternator I recommend at least 10 gauge from the alternators BAT output up to the ammeter and from the ammetr down to the hot batetry voltage source (taken off starter cable)

Guess I'm dense, but I still don't get it about the coil resistor. The Super A I am working on was converted to 12 V by the PO. He had a wiring jumble (a solinoid with wires running everywhere). The coil does not say whether it is 6V or 12V, but does say use with an extenal resistor. Is that one of those white porcilin looking things between the switch and the coil?

Yes. And, with what your coil says, you need one.
