New Arrival (Farmall300)

Just got my new 1954 Farmall 300 home and I got the grease and grime steamed off. I swore I wasn't going to restore another one and wind up with more money in it than it was worth,,,,,but I guess it's been long enough that I've forgotten how much work it is. I'm excited to get started and I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions.

This one is pretty straight, but needs a TA, an axle bearing, thrust bearings in the front end, and it has a bunch of oil leaks. I'll also be in the market for an IH wide front with'in driving distance. Let the fun begin!

The TA and rear tires and you are in 2 grand before you get started.

I"m pretty sure I can fix the Ta for less than a thousand, but I know what you mean.

To be on the safe side,,,,,,please don"t tell my wife. She has not been bitten by the old tractor bug, and she probably wouldn"t understand.

I think I'd throw the parts it needs in it, buff and wax the paint, and run it.

I just finished working on the TA in my 300. High and low sides both out. I checked several possibilities and found the best was to contact Kevin Meier on this site and get a reman TA. I did and was glad of it because he saved me a lot of time and money. Dan

I dont know, all the little things add up, like spliting stands, oil, gaskets, etc.... the t/a is a very expensive thing to replace as far as an old tractor goes, But its a learning experience for sure, i wish i did one but good luck and keep us posted
