Thinking of purchasing a running Farmall A to restore and I would eventually like to sell it for at least break even cost.

Do these tractors sell easily?
Is it worth it?
They sell around here for between $3000-$4000.

Thanks

I am from Ontario Canada,

These tractors Have become real popular in our area over the last few years, a-lot of them are used as lawn tractors to cut grass and so on due to their small size and fuel economy.

Anyway 3000-4000 CDN is = to $2700-3700 USD

you can get that much in one if it needs a complete restore.you might be able to brake even on the parts but not your labor.

Also, restored has different meanings to different people.some folks think a paint job means restored and some folks say everything needs to be tore down and gone through.

I think location has a lot to do with it. I have an A with 2 one way plows, disc, and belly mount sickle mower, working Pneumatic lift. I didnt' restore it, just put it back together, painted it so it's not embarassing to look at. Tried to sell it (whole package) about a year ago for 2,000 and couldn't get any interest.
(not really interested in selling it at the moment)

This depends on what you call restored how many new parts are you going use seals, bearings ,brakes and of course correct tires and anew engine and whats your time worth. You will have more than 1500 in just parts. Are the lites,drawbar,battery6 box and lots of other things there when you buy the tractor or maybe you will have to have another 8-9 hundred in "little" things. Then there is the paint job preping and finishing. Dont get me wrong as there are buyers who want a good tractor and will pay good money just will need a buyer for a Restored A WHEN YOU ARE DONE.

I would NOT plan to restore a tractor, sell it and get your money back. There are to many things that can run the $ up. In my opinion, restore it because you enjoy it and forget about the money.
