m serial number (rustyfarmall i got the numbers i think?)

the number below the #1 spark pug is 6722-dj.... then other numbers on cast items are 3 3 w..... 80 26 d..... 5734-db.....12-27t....6-19 t....6-5t.... so does anyone know the year of my m???? thanks

Number one spark plug is on the other end. Engine casting # shows the engine is not from a early tractor. You have 50 and 51 date codes posted. Depending on what serial # the engine is. That engine came from a tractor with a tractor serial # probably 10000 to 12000 higher than the engine #. Or at least 8000 higher.

Where are the T and W numbers? The other numbers a part numbers. The flat surface below the #1 plug has the engine serial number, you may have to scrap paint or grease to find it.Its a stamped number, not a cast number.

.. yeah the first number i listed is the one below the #1 plug... then the rest if the numbers are written exactly how i found em on tractor.. i was thinking it was a 1950 bt nt sure

Yes, the casting codes do indicate 1950, but that 12*27*T does indicate that the tractor could be a 1951. The letter "T" indicates the year 1950.

Did you find the engine serial number yet? If you need engine parts, the engine serial number is the important one to know. As far as parts for any other part of the tractor, there is basically NO difference between a '50 and a '51. Just out of curiousity, on which part of the tractor did you find the 12*27*T?

i don't remeber exactly know and i thought the 6722-dj was the engine serial number thats what was under #1 spark plug

6722-dj is a part number. The serial number will have more digits, and as someone else mentioned, it is located on a slightly raised, rectangular shaped area, and is stamped in. Most likely you WILL have to scrape away some grime and maybe even some paint to be able to read it. Upon more thought, that raised area MIGHT be located closer to BETWEEN spark plug #1 and #2.

Rusty, I'm not involved in this string but I have a correct and original 1951 M with a T casting code on the tractor. It is located on the engine block and as I recall was cast in late October 1950. I also have other components with U and W codes. The U was used a short time in early 1951 before going to the W code for 1951 parts. As I recall on my tractor all the U parts had January dates so anything cast in a later month had the W code. The latest casting codes are on the rear cast wheels and were cast in mid-March 1951. My tractor has a 2538XX S/N and from prior research was out of the factory in early April 1951. You should be able to use some of this information to provide Mike a fairly close S/N on his tractor as 41,000 were produced in 1951 when more were made then any other year. Hope this helps, Hal.

Yes, that's why I say the casting codes are good only for a generalization. One book I have insists that the letter "U" was never used, but you just proved that is wrong, and I have observed a few other Farmalls with that "U" casting code.
