F706 - oil leak around steering wheel

Always had a wet spot around the dust cover but it's now a full-blown drip. Parts book says I can get a kit for the shaft seal (379782R92). I'm thinking all you have to do is pull the wheel and R&R the seal. Any advice on this fix?

The kit should provide instructions, at least that is the way I remember them. No need to pull unit out, like you said , just pull steering wheel, dirt seal, snap ring, put wheel back on , turn it and it should push old seal out.

YOU WILL NEED TWO 5 1/2 INCH LONG 1/4 INCH FINE THREAD BOLTS A FINE THREAD BOTTOMING TAP TO CLEAN THE HOLES FOR THE PULLER BOLTS AND A STEERING WHEEL PULLER . A 1 1/8 th scoket and a Long breaker bar , and impact would work far better to remove the nut . You are going to ask why such long bolts , well with most steering wheel pullers you can ot get both puller bolts into the holes in the wheel as they are closer then anything out there . So you have to sorta make the bolts flex a bit so longer is better . and like Pete said a good pair of snap ring pliers and once the steering wheel os off ya remove the snap ring and set the steering wheel back on and give a sharp har turn either way and that old seal will just pop wirht out and i use a deep well socket to install the new one and in a matter of lets say 30 min you should be done . I can do them in ten min. but i have replaced many and i know what i need to carry to the job . It ain't hard to do and if ya run into trouble ya know where Pete and i are for help
