I have a 53 yr SM it has good oil pressure and dont smoke.But it has some blow by .My question is how much blow by is too much

Does it use use an abnormal amount of oil ? if not i would not be very conserned unless the amount of blow by is more than a light smoke (a puff not a freight train).

Blow by does indicate worn compression rings, which also means the engine compression is lower than it should be and the horsepower will suffer because of that, but if actual oil consumption is no worse than what you can live with, you might want to just leave it alone for awhile.
