On a 100 govenor when it is running will the force push the govenor shaft to the front of the casing or to the rear at the mag? I have alot of play in linkage and shaft pin is frozen in I have not been able to get it out. Any help!
Thanks oldiron29

Shaft pin is 5/16 I drilled the old one out!
How long would you say the pin should be? The broken piece of spring I got out doesn't have much pressure to it. It should be holding the pin to the front casing of the govenor right!
Thanks for any help oldiron29

The shaft is forced REARWARDS, the opposite reaction to the governor weights (through the thrust bearing) trying to shove the fork forwards.

Is Key # 32 the pin you are talking about?

The CIH parts website doesn't give dimensions, but it look like the parts are all still available from Fiat.

49218DA (About $7.00.)

49219DA (About $12.00.)

49220D (About $20.00.)

To add to that, the action of the governor is trying to force the shaft rearwards.

Also, the timing and governor gears are helical and the governor gear will tend to be forced one way or the other, depending on the slope of it's helical gear, which I don't know offhand, with a force depending upon the load the gears are under.

I would GUESS that force is towards the rear, as well.
