Bought another M

I just bought another M today at a consignment sale. Its a early 44 by my books. It has the cast iron shift knob and is a duel fuel with the starting tank and lever for the shutters. I never did look to see if the shutters were there. Real nice unrestored shape and purrs like a kitten. When its in 5th gear i can hear a small tick in the rear end on the right side. It also has power steering, m&w govener, m&w throttle lever, what remains of a two way hyd valve, and the steering post tool box. I cant get the lever to move to engage the pto. Almost new firestone rear tires.
Any houghts on the m&w govenor? It it any good? I assume it doesnt actually add power just makes it more perky??
Also on the serial num tag there is no suffix, like X1, is that normal?? Being duel fuel i thought it might a different suffix?
This one joins my 49 m, a 35 WC allis and my dads 53 ford.

i know the m it was at kenyon's mn consignment sale what did it bring and it is a late 1943 model it has 12-43 date codes looked pretty good was intrested in it but couldnt make the sale

Eric most of those tractors with casting codes in month 12 were assembled the following year and probably has a serial tag indicating 1944.
In fact the casting could be a earlier date code and the tractor still a 44 model.

Yep, thats the one. And your correct, the castings show 11 and 12 1943. By the books its a 44, about the 300th made in 44. I looked during chores and the shutters are gone. I paid 1600 for it, guess i was willing to pay more than anyone else! The powersteering and tires on it are worth it. I plan on comp testing it and putting it on a dyno this week and see how strong the motor is. Gott get the PTO to engage first! Did you notice anything seriously wrong with it?

you are right on the m&w just makes the engine snapper and respond faster, not more power. as for the suffix alot of the H/M's espically early ones will not have a one if its a dist, or kero engine. this is what i have seen a few time anyway
