I just got time to get back on here a couple weeks ago and I have been wondering where Hugh is. I just read on a post if I understand it right, that he has passed. Is this true?

That is correct, cancer I believe.

I sure am sorry to hear that. He always had a way to make a post informative. Hugh had helped me alot with my problems I have encountered with my tractors. He will always be remembered as someone who was willing to always try to help someone in need of a little advice. Just hug your family today because we don't know what tomorrow will bring. God Bless, Royce

Yes, that's right. It's been several months ago, now.

It seemed all rather sudden to those of us here, because he posted up until a bout a week before his passing. He had never said anything about it that I saw, but I guess he had been failing for some time.

I've got it saved here somewhere and (as usual) can't find it at the moment, but his obituary actually went so far as to mention his tractors and the time he enjoyed on YT.

RDJ Farms, mornin". Yes, sadly we have lost quit a character on this great board. The link I have posted has been view (to this point anyway) 1911 times; I doubt any post will ever garnish that much readership. The link provides comments from posters and includes "Hughies" (as one family member fondly relates) obituary. As someone who has lost my very best friend and love of my life, my girlfriend in a auto accident, it is indeed important to tell those we love that we do love them. Sometimes a difficult thing for us dower full-blooded Norwegians. Glad we told each other "I love you" that morning. Let"s all enjoy our day!
poke here, but gently this time

Mr. MacKay's name is going to come up here occasionally and that's a good thing.
One thing I would like to add is the first time I saw the picture of him standing by the pickup in his short pants and suspenders made me think of someone else but I just couldn't put my finger on who it was.
It came to me later and I will share it now.
The way Hugh was standing with his hands on his hips reminded me of a British comedy actor I used to watch on PBS by the name of Benny Hill.
Benny always seem to make fun of the rediculous but never at anyone's expense except his own. I always got a chuckle or two out of each episode. He had a lot of pretty girls on the show also which didn't hurt.
I am sure Hugh's family and friends know that I mean this comparison in the most kind and good humored way.

Al,

That 1911 hits on Hugh's memorial thread only applies to the modern forum. Total hits from classic and modern is probably 5000 to 10,000. No way of knowing because the classic hits are not reported, may not even be collected due to software limitations. Classic view is far and away more popular. It is also the default display at YTMag.

Hugh was diagnosed with a rapid onset cancer a day or two before Canada's Thanksgiving day which I think was Oct 10. The same thing happened to my father who was a medical doctor and a world-wide leader in his specialty. That left Hugh with two weeks to live. His last post was ten days before his death so he was aware of his condition when he made that post.

Yes, it is highly unlikely that any thread has ever, or will ever, surpass Hugh's memorial thread. And we are just counting one thread. There were a few others as well.

Was wondering where he was lately.Sad to hear, he sure had some good advice and helped me different times. I am sure he will be missed by many.

I also still miss Hugh. But, I believe Hugh would be pleased that others are stepping up to fill the A/SA/100/130/140 gap here on the forum - ScottyHOMey, for one.

This is horrible news!!! I can't believe I missed his passing. What a loss!
I will always be grateful for his advice and kind words. I feel so bad right now.

Hugh didn"t live that far away from me. I had the honour of meeting him-he had replied to an ad that I posted on Kijiji. We yaked for quite a while. He was a good one.

Has anyone thought about putting Hughs info onto the Memorial Page on this site? It would be a nice touch and everyone could pull it up any time and pay their respects there....???
