the 515 i'm working on that we thought was just a head gasket seems to have a bad o ring on the bottom of a sleeve. water getting into oil just setting there. after reading the service manual that i have, i'm not srue i understand how the motor is hooked to the trans. according to the book, once you take the bolts out around the bellhousing, the motor and trans will seperate leaving the torque converter in the trans. if this is the case, how is the torque convertor connectec to the crankshaft? i'm confuses. also, i'm looking for the lower pivot pin, where is a good place to go to look for one.
thanks
Gary

I don't know your machine , but generally speaking , the torque converter is bolted to the flywheel with 4-6 bolts. Look for a cover on the bellhousing Usually on the bottom . Remove that and you'll see 'em.

i would agree, but can't find a cover plate, and the manual does not even mention any bolts, other then the ones around the bell housing. it's like the torque converter is press fit against the crank.

pull the starter and see if you can see the bolts there, just seems to me thats where they are.

Gary the converter has a large male gear that goes into the back of your flywheel (female ) . The converter should stay with the trans ,just take your bolts around the bell out and it will come apart.
ps We always put bars leak in a 300/400 series first to just see if it will stop , but were kinda cheap too.
Mine was going the other way it was putting oil in the radiator but it had a new cooler , I put cascade in it about 4 times with water then drained every nite after a good work out . Finally got it cleaned out.

Banks1 is correct. It looks like a big ring gear on the torque converter. There is also an O ring because this is a wet bell housing. I've been down this road. The 515 is a very reliable and simple loader. We also had water in the oil for the same reason. It may require machine work to fix. We repowered with 6B Cummins. There was/is? a complete kit available from the dealer. I love my 515. Other than the engine, hydraulic cylinders needing repairs after 30 years, it has been a great machine on the farm.
