Can I get a block heater replacement cord?

Hi,
I was wondering if I can get a replacement cord and plug for a block heater on an IH 1066? The heater/element itself is fine but the orange plug and cord are are in need of replacing. I have looked and can not seem to find just the plug and cord only the whole setup, so I just thought I would ask before I shelled out the 40 or dollars for the entire unit. I should say I live out in the middle of absolutely nowhere so I need an web dealer, otherwise I would just go to parts store and ask. Thanks very much for any help.

If you know what brand it is, sure you can. I know Katts and Zero start offer replacement plugs for their units.

Often, by the time the cord is shot the connector prongs in the heater are corroded/charred/burned and a new cord will soon get hot and melt/fail at the connector.

For safety, why not replace the complete heater if it's getting a bit "long in the tooth"?

Yesterday, one of my nearest neighbors lost a turkey barn that has long been used for machinery storage as well as 3 tractors.

The way it sounds, a block heater is SUSPECTED of causing the fire.

Should make a guy think about anything with a block heater that's not 100% up to par.

Joe, What Bob just told you is very good advice. Most all tractor and building fires I've heard about around here were caused by these heaters. My cord got bad a couple of years ago and I just changed the whole unit when I replaced the anti-freeze during routine maintanence. Most people around here that need their tractor for feeding hay in the morning use a timer on their heater and don't leave them plugged in too long. Might be different in the northern colder areas but don't know. I certainly wouldn't try and stretch one of those units too long as that might be false economy, Hal.

Thanks very much everyone for the advice! I had best just replace the whole thing as i do not need a fire, I would think, and as the replacement plug seems to be about 20$ by itself it really isn't worth it. Maybe 10$ I'd consider it, joking. Thanks again for the help.
