I am having trouble getting my F30 in gear.I think I have a bad clutch and pressure plate.I tried to adjust it and made no difference.I think I need to replace clutch.Where might I find parts for it? Thanks for any help Harvey T in NC.

Can't get in gear?

If a clutch doesn't disengage, then you'll grind gears then lurch forward once in gear, but pressing the clutch won't stop you.

If a clutch doesn't engage, releasing it won't make you travel, nor spin the PTO pulley when it is engaged.

If a clutch is slipping, you can still put the transmission in gear, but won't go anywhere, or have little power to climb a hill, but the engine doesn't labor.

Verify that the clutch linkage has some play when you release the clutch pedal. If all the back-lash has been removed, then you are artificially holding the clutch somewhat disengaged.

If you cannot get the transmission into gear, engine started or not, the issue is not in the clutch.

With this info, where now is the issue?

Just trying to gather more information on your problem.

on these old tractors things just get rusted up and sticky from sitting.best just to remove stuff so you can get to it and look in there and see whats goin on. probably just needs disassembly and a good cleaning and lube nesessary parts and it will work like suppossed to. thats my experience. no sense lookin for parts till you know what you need.

Did this problem just occur recently? Clutch free play should be about 1 and 1/2 inches from transmission housing. If you want to replace clutch, call Alderson Tractor 641 624-2275. They have both used and rebuilt clutches/pressure plates.
While you have it out, may want to replace release bearing.

Dean may be right. Those old girls are notorious for having a mouse nest in the housing when they sit for a time. The Clutch on my F20 would not disengage. The tractor had been sitting for a number of years. This is what I found inside.

Wish you would have turned that oil can alittle so we wouldn't see that Deere logo! Trying to get a F-20 clutch apart myself right now. Mice lived there once and left treasures. Have 2 bolts that refuse to come loose. Been soaking quite awhile now.
