H Oil pan all better, mysterious air connection picture

Thanks for the help. I got 14 bolts and tooth washers and they all screwed in nicely. I could spin most of them in with no ratchet till their heads touched. I guess someone had the pan down recently and left the bolts out, because when I went to install the belly pump a few days ago those holes were all full of dirt and rust and had to be cleaned out.
I borrowed a camera and took a picture of a small disconnected line running to the air cleaner. Should I repair that, and if so will rubber gas line work or does it need to be metal? I also took a pic of the rubber I put between the alternator and the valve cover as Old suggested. Does that look okay like it is? Thank you all very much for all of the help you've been over the last couple of months.

Yep rubber gas line will work just fine. All that is for is smog control any how. Ya I know way back then they thought about things like that and figured if they got oil smoke out of it why not go ahead and burn it off by way of the air cleaner.
As for the rubber between the alternator and the valve cover as long as it works and stays in place it will be just fine

Thanks a lot. I'll hook that line up and then I can put the hood back on. I do appreciate all of the advice you've given.

It looks like it was painted yellow at one time. I got it from a guy who had got it as a package deal with a Super H that he wanted, and I don't know it's history before that. Someday I need to scrape it down and paint it so it's not quite so hideous. The red that is over the yellow is too dark and has a kind of dried-blood color that is singularly ugly, but it's going to be a working tractor so I guess it doesn't matter.

I am no expert or even claim to be,but looks to me like it has been repainted,at least the gas tank has, there is overspray/brush marks on the gas cap.

There is yellow paint on the temp gage wire, and that wire wasn't on there at the factory. It was painted yellow sometime after.

A lot of industrial/commercial users had the habit of repainting their equipment fairly often. If there is one layer of yellow, there may be several. The interesting question is what color is the bottom layer (not counting primer).

The line going to the air cleaner is for venting the crank case of moisture and other fumes like gas that got past the rings on cold starts. I think the one on my H may be a bit plugged as I have had problems getting water up in the gov housing and then condensing in the distributor cap.
