valve type for 3 point hitch

Does anyone know what type of valve to use on a Saginaw three point hitch to get down pressure? Going on a Farmall M. Tractor Supply has an open center 4 way valve that looks like it would work but it is not supposed to be used in a metered or heavy lift application.

If it is rated for hydraulic, it will be fine.

900 lbs of M hydraulics is probably 1/3 to 1/4 of its design capacity. 4-way is supply, return, and two work ports for a double acting cylinder. Open center is what you want.

If you want to keep the M all IH, get a "Christmas Tree" valve. They are on eBay frequently. They are also called "remote hydraulic" valves.

If you don't need down pressure, you don't need to purchase another valve.
