oil pump/tach drive gear housing

How do you remove the tach gear housing from a 282D. I have replaced the tach and cable but the drive is not working-all experience appreciated.
Mike

The cable drive assembly just screws out of adaptor housing which is pressed into crankcase and can be driven or pulled out. I usually use a brass drift to pop them out.

Thanks for your help Pete,
by removing the press fit housing do I have to worry about disturbing the oil pump in any way?
I ned to get the tach working, just had the engine rebuilt. wish there was a clearer picture of the component assembly. What usually fails?
thanks again
mike

When you take it out no problem, when putting it back in you would need to make sure it is aligned by sticking your finger in the hole where the screwed out part came out of . Some may have a welch plug in end, not sure, then you could take that out and fiddle it into place. Been a very long time since I had one out.
