Farmall 450 PTO Gasket

I had to remove the PTO unit to replace a carrier axle and in doing so noticed there was no gasket between the PTO case and the differential case. I called IH and they too verified there is no gasket. Should I dress the 2 surfaces with any sealer before putting them back together?

Pto uses a large O-ring on unit to seal it to inside of opening in final drive housing.

Pete is correct. That O ring is super expensive. IIRC it is just short of $30. I reused my old one, but I ran a bead of the orange RTV gasket maker around mine just in case.
