6 Volt Possiitve Ground Question

Where is the correct bolt to hook up the possitive ground from the battery. I know I can hook it up anywhere but want it to be right. Thanks

Its on a 49 Farmall H. The battery box is on the left side. I understand how to make it work but I want to know how it came when new.

Are you 100% possitive that is how it rolled off the assembly line. It makes sense that is where it would be located. But need to be sure. Thank you.

I wasn't there when it rolled off the assembly line, so can't be 100% sure about anything. On a 49 with starting and lighting thats where IH intended it to go. Thats also where I remember they were, but can't be 100% sure on the memory also.

go to case ih on internet look up parts, enter farmall, look under h that fits your year model,go to electricial i found info for h with dist on line 072 it showed the cable grounded to top starter bolt.

Have ya got the owner's manual or one of those yellow OEM company parts books. I just went out to get the OEM catalog, looks like all except late super h go to top starter bolt.

The Owner's Manual for installing the Starting and Lighting Attachments on an H, shows the positive cable grounded to the starter bolt.
On an M, it was to the belt pulley drive housing. Sid.

This reminds me of the ground cable on our SC, a short one that went to the battery box bolt that went into the gage/ steering column casting. Well, in actual use, that set-up left a lot to be desired. Ours is still grounded via a long cable to a starter bolt. I suppose the correct police will be out tomorrow to take me to jail.
