Not sure what part of the country you are in, dusty..., but they are listed in the Farm Equipment section of the classifieds here in Kansas all the time. Might also watch Craig's List under Farm and Garden. Here's one from yesterday near Wichita...

Maybe this is better... sorry about that, That was the last link I had copied and somehow I must have missed copying the new one.

The link is for Winchester .22s??? Anyhow, grain drills are all over. To put it rudely, don't ask stupid questions.

The first thing you should do is get a set of manuals. This will inform you what to check, put where, and how much.

There aren't any stupid questions, just random stupid answers. That's one of the reasons I hesitate to post a question sometimes for fear some don't take you serious. I was taught to always respect anyone. Everyone deserves reasonable doubt until proven otherwise. Old time values go a long way. So let's treat everyone like we would want to be treated if we were in their shoes.

Thank you! I don't know where to start. But I guess you can't even get on the internet on a ag related site and not find ignorant people. I'm sorry that I worded the post the way I did. I was just wanting to know if they were notorious for anything. I have been involved in the cattle and farming industry since the day I was born and have set on more equipment than I care to list. Not to mention leaving the farm to go get an animal science degree from a state university. All I did was ask a simply question. So you can take your attitude and your disrespectful ways and shove it where the sun don't shine. I'm sure that you could find something more constructive to do other than bad mouth people on the internet. Go work some ground, put down some fertilizer and or a pre emergent maybe even go tag some calves that should be dropping right now......oh but wait, I'm sure you are the freakin idiot that keeps the bull in the pasture year round, doesn,t know what pasture chemical is or any other management practice because you are to busy bad mothing people on forums instead of trying to better our highly scrutinized industry that we should be protecting. Thanks for nothing.

the m is a pretty reliable tractor, there were bunches of them sold. about the only weak point is the steering does wear out and gets wobbly going down the road. the very late m's just before the super m came out had disc brakes, and an updated front timing cover and stronger camshaft gear to accept the live pump. also there were quite a few aftermarket goodies you could add on to the tractor and make it easier, and or more versatile. 9 speed, power steering, m+w hand clutch (kind of gave it a live pto). good solid tractor, about 35 hp at the drawbar. i have 3 of em.

There are no problem areas with an M. As mentioned things do wear out, and steering (though it won't fail, will get loose with time). Not hard to fix, and parts are still reasonable. Buy manuals for it from here Or binder books, or Ebay etc. The hydraulics are modest 700 to 800psi. and stop when the clutch is pushed in, but that is normal for the vintage. Great tractors. I was sitting on them when I could stand up.
Drills are easier to find as yard art than usable. (unless new) make sure the disk or shoe planting components are not worn off. The fertilizer tubes are often rusted away, and wooden components can be rotted. Drive chains and sprockets, adjustment levers and slider doors on some can be rusted tight. Fertilizer is nasty corrosive. Wheels and hubs should be free and tight on the axles (jack up to make sure they are not falling off) Best of luck, and ignore those who have nothing to do but irritate. Jim

Depending on how many farm equipment dealers you have in your area there should be one on some dealers lot. Auctions are another possibility, but look it over pretty good before you buy. Most people on this forum are civil, looks like one are two are trying to be funny, they aren't. Usually those types don't last long here.

Sorry about the glitch above... I corrected it, and here it is again.

Yes, this would make good yard art, but smaller usable drills are still around, and many are hooked together with hitches, but when they sell, they sometimes sell individually.

Want an IH drill, here it is...

True, I was on a couple other forums and I was getting fed up with people doing "research" by asking others to tell them.

Basically, look for a grain drill in all the places you looked to find your M.

Drat. Two months ago, I hauled our old drill out and sold it for a lawn decoration. It was an absolutely pristine IH 15 run Eastern with fert and grass box on steel and did me good service for 15 years. Just too small, couldn't make it around a 40 acre field. Sat in the straw mow for 20 years. Bought in 66 for $125, sold in09 for $500. Where are you? Sometimes there are some beauties lurking in the back of drive sheds.

You know what, if you can't deal with a little innocent funnin' around... maybe you do belong somewhere else.

You basically said "tell me everything about this tractor" which is as about a ridiculous question as you can ask. A person could literally write BOOKS about the Farmall M, and they have. What point would there be in someone manually typing that all back in here? Who's got the time to do all that?

Now, if you have a few specific directed questions about the tractor, that would make more sense.

I am sorry about my lack of coordiality on this response, but when someone COMPLAINS about FREE advice, it just rubs me the wrong way. Hey friend, it's FREE. You get what you get. You got no right complaining.
