Is there an alternate source for the brake pedal return springs other than the IH Dealer. He wants 15 each of those little 5 inch springs.
Maybe just cut down a screen door spring?

I went to my local hardware store and he had a spring assortment there, I found one that was close enough that it worked. You might try that.

Gordo: I bought some generic springs from one of those tool guys you see at the big shows. Man, did I luck out. They are perfect. $1 each. mike

Ace hardware and the farm stores. Hard to find one that stout at that length though. First generic one I bought at the right length wasn't stout enough to return the pedal but found another one heavy enough but longer. Cut it and bent one end.

Most good auto parts stores sell spring packs so you can cut to size. I keep a pack on hand most of the time since you never know when you might need a spring. Had one brake on my 1980 Chev for the clutch and just bent to fit. Funny how you sort of think your in trouble when you push the clutch pedal down and it stays on the floor but you do not slow down any

Gordo, go up to Thunes on N Main in Mitchell with your old spring as a model. They have a good selection of springs, I'll bet you could find one that matches. I picked up a couple of clutch/brake return springs for my Super A & Cub there last summer. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I bought a long heavy spring from the local hardware, cut it in half and replaced both brake pedal springs.

I found two the correct diameter and wire size, had to shorten them. Two for 4.44.
Thanks guys.
