There is no commercial acreage of cotton grown in Minnesota. For reasons known only to Case IH, they moved picker production from Memphis to Moline, IL to Minnesota (something to do with cost savings, labor and plant utilization)and the harvester row units are made in Israel. Nothing like a global manufacturing and marketing system.

The picker heads have been refined and improved but are amazingly similar from the late fortys until present. A mid fiftys picker would pick just as well as new one but new one will pick at least 20 times as much cotton.

Deere (i know bad word) builds cotton pickers in Ankeny Iowa. Been in central Iowa all my life and never seen a cotton plant here yet.

I wonder if the company in Israel will now start building John Deere's headers also, or if they will stop building the CaseIH headers? :?:

(quoted from post at 21:38:23 04/01/10) Deere just bought the company in Israel that makes CNH"s row units.
