got a couple questions regarding the hitch pump on an 806
first how big of a project would i be getting into to rebuild the pump in it myself
second if it is a to big of a project for me to do what benefits would i get if i put a 17 gpm pump in instead of the current 12gpm pump
thanks

I swapped out the 12gpm units for the 17gpm pumps in a couple of my tractors. A world of difference! Like night and day. Way, way faster action.

They really can't be "rebuilt". The body is made of aluminum and that is usually what wobbles out on 'em.

A 17 should do ok with the present filter but if it cavitates at all, then think about a bigger filter and/or keeping them and screen clean. My 2606 has a 17 with the standard filter. It also has a canister filter on the loader as well.

What is it doing that you think the pump is bad, when did that happen, and how has it been doing over the past few years? Could be something else like a little crud blocking open a pressure relief valve. I hate to see someone spend big bucks for a pump and that not fix your problems.

bought the tractor back in feb. and actually used if the first time last weekend and had the rev the engine to get it to lift up the 8ft disk i was using and the small 2 row planter.after talking to a good friend of mine who grew up on one he told me that it sounded like a weak pump but it had been 25 years since they quit farming and couldn't remember what all was in there with the pump before i spend money on a new pump im gonna change filter and check the o rings on the pump first just trying to plan ahead for the worst case.
