Where is the best place to get an IH Distb. rebuilt Our FFA project Is a 400 farmall And ours in in rough shape Thank you Jerry

If you are rebuilding the tractor doing the dist shouldnt be hard. Didnt the tractor run when you started that would mean it does work. You should be able to replace the bushings and clean the rest up to make it like new.

It would work if the tractor hadn't sat outside for thirty years in horrible conditions without a distributor cap and it doesn't help that it was on fire!

Keep in mind you need a 25 degree advance for a 400 if it is still any where near stock. There are about six different advance distributors available, most common is 40 degree, next is 30. Just picked one up from a salvage yard a month ago or so. I talked to the guy and said I would take it all apart to make sure it was in good shape. He said, oh no, you will wreck it. I told him I have been taking them apart for 50 plus years and would take this one apart also. It was actually in good condition except for the cam, which was fine on the other one so used that. It was a 40 degree advance so I welded in the limiter hole and reduced it to 25 degree or there about, have to wait until I get it running for final tweaking. With a little math you can determine how large the hole needs to be. The springs are another story. You can buy new sets for adv you need or do a little pinching and or stretching. A time consumer but what else have I got. At any rate. You need proper advance total and a nice steady advance curve for a good running engine.

Thanks for the advice but we still don't have the knowledge to rebuild one on our one that's why where are looking for a place that rebuilds them.

Understand, but the problem will be to get them to rebuild it for your particular model, too many rebuilders and rebuilt suppliers have the one size fits all attitude. I can't tell you who can do it but there are many different places. I do my own as needed. Most any CASEIH shop could if the parts dept cooperates with them. Most just want to sell a different unit , due to labor rates mostly. Parts are available but very expensive. Good luck.
