does anybody know when IH quit putting the old style bottoms on their plows and started putting plow chiefs and later super chiefs on them? would fasthitch plows likely have them? thanks to all

The answer isn't that simple. At any point in time, IH made a variety of plow bottoms. There were versions of the Plow Chief made from about 1950 through 1970. Super Chiefs were made starting in 1956 or so. Other styles were made at the same time.

When I worked at the IH dealership, ordering plows was not a simple process. When you ordered a plow say a 540, you had a choice of maybe 30 to 40 different bottoms you could put on it. Even all super chiefs were not the same.

Boy you ain't kidding.

Just go look at the CaseIH parts site and look up "bottom." There are 4 or 5 different super chief bottoms, and several different styles of shares that you can mix and match.
