Super C clutch spins long time

When I first leave neutral to put it into a gear, I have to hold the clutch down for about a minute or 2 before it quits spinning. It never used to take but few seconds. Fluid is full. What could this be? Is clutch wearing out?

Hi Mike, the pilot bushing in the flywheel is dry of grease. Unfortunately there is no way to lube the bushing without splitting the tractor. This causes the transmission drive shaft to spin with the clutch depressed. Eventually it become so bad that you will be unable to change gears.

Mike, try putting the gear shift into the slot in front of the Reverse position which is all the way to the right and back. It won't go into a gear in the location forward of the R but I think it acts as a transmission break which stops things from turning in the transmission. I use it all the time to keep from "clashing" gears when wanting to shift quickly. Hope it works for you, Hal.

Replace or lube the pilot bearing but you need to split it. Put it in gear and have the clutch pushed in when starting .

Is there any harm in putting it in that fake gear above the R reverse gear, like the first reply said? It seems to help slow the spinning down.

It may not be the pilot bearing, it may be a piece of clutch facing has broken off and dragging. I had that on a C once.
