Finally an answer International 300 Utility

It has been several weeks - tractor would not
start - firing out exhaust and intake " timing
problems " Exactly ! had to remove loader, remove
front end plus the normal items to access the
front cover of the motor. Well the nut came off
the cam (must have been off for awhile the nut is
in perfect condition)the cam gear finally wore all
the threads off the cam, the keyway became loose
enough and the gear wore the teeth off itself and
the distributor drive gear. Remember when the
valve cover was removed all the valves still
operated and correctly. Well now I need to find a
camshaft, cam drive gear with key, distributor
drive gear plus the oil slinger for the front of
the crankshaft; also a manifold(found badly
cracked). As always thanks for the help, advice
and shared years of knowledge and experience! Any
suggestions as to the best source for parts?

I think the original camshafts had right hand threads. Later IH changed to Left hand threads because of this very problem. If you find a replacement cam shaft, try to get one with the left hand threads.
