MD head retorque

Tractor is back together except for steering shaft.
Runs great with no leaks at head gasket. I'm thinking I should run it couple of hours before retorquing head. Question: Can I install steering shaft and still be able to remove valve cover and valve train to get to head stud nuts? Looks like pretty close clearances. As always, answers appreciated.

Nope, its a real pain in the neck, you have to pull everything off. Just did it too my SMD over the winter. that has power steering so even more of a pain.
