Does you lever on your tractor look like this one. This is a picture of my M with a Heisler 9 speed.

Unless mistaken, the M&W 9 spd used acable assembly similiar to one for a truck pto & hoist. At least that was what my M had but never was sure which make it was.

The early M&W used a cable to shift but I think later ones went to a lever system similar to the Heisler.

That is either a Heisler or Behlen. MW 9 speed regardless if it is cable or lever uses the other side for entering the shift mechanism.

here is my m with the m+w 9 speed. you can see the cable just below the belly pump control rod

Glenn, that is certainly an interesting M you have. Looks like disc brakes and I guess some sort of hydraulic pump running off the belt pulley to power the 3 point hitch. Looks like enough hydraulic hoses to power the main landing gear on a Boeing 747 on that tractor. My hip just went out trying to think of how to mount the old girl; and with my tired legs I don't think I could climb aboard. Thanks for sharing the photo, Hal.

that could be one of those what we called the missing gear -- you shifted the main trans. into nuetral and put that thing in gear and it was gould for 9mph-- who made it i dont know--but it sure was ok for pulling a load to town when you could not pull it in fith gear- just some ideas of years past!!

Hi Roy, think you are talking about the gear box that bolted in place of the belt pulley gear box when you say missing gear type. Someone must know who made them but its a secret on YT or I missed the answer.
M&W used the cable shift and also a lever shift type going in the transmission on the right side ahead of the brake pedals with a rod from lever running up above and to the inside of the brake pedals to shift it. Lever had M&W co Anchor Illinois in small letters cast on the lever.
