Delco-Remy Gen 100501 3E12

Hello. I have a 1945 Farmall A with what I think is a generator. It has the following info on it:

1100501 3E12

Is this the correct gen or it. Is it a 6V. All your help will be greatly apprecaited. THANKS
 
No, that generator wasn't used until about '49 or '50 on later model tractors. It should be used with the squarish 2-contact regulator. The original was 1101355 and was used with a cut-out.

The "3E12" part of your tag is a date code (May 12 of some year ending with a 3, probably 1953).
 
While that P/N generator is not correct for your A it will work fine as long you match it to a 4-terminal voltage regulator from a later letter or Super series gas tractor.

The difference from the original generator is your generator has a fixed 3rd brush - the original used an adjustable 3rd brush. Incidentally the two generators look identical and are physically interchangeable.
